Ministry of Mercy Making Every Beating Heart Count!

On Wednesday October 31, 2018, we were at Ministry of Mercy (MoM) Hospital along Okene-Abuja Expressway, Lokoja and we were simply amazed at how well equipped the place is with doctors with years, no decades of experience work as volunteers to serve humanity. We went to talk to pregnant women about prematurity and how to ensure they do their bit to experience healthy pregnancies. We also taught them what to do in the event of preterm labour-hurry to Hospital. And how about the event that they have a preterm baby outside the hospital? We taught them the the first steps of keeping the baby well: Control temperature and ensure baby is kept away from dirty environment then HURRY TO THE HOSPITAL.

Next, we spoke with nursing mothers on the need to ensure they follow through the entire course of immunization till the last schedule when the child is 5. We spoke on childhood diseases and how to keep their children away from them.

MoM Hospital is an offshoot of Ministry of Mercy Orphanage.

At the hospital, antenatal is free and so are delivery and Caesarean sections.

Really impressive! No one has a reason to not go to the hospital.

According to the MD, the Kogi State Government has been very helpful to the Ministry of Mercy by seconding some staff to the hospital in recognition of the wonderful work they are doing to reduce child and maternal mortality in the state. In addition to this, the State listed the hospital as a beneficiary of the HealthcarePlus which gives free drugs to pregnant women and children under 5.

We were given a tour of the facility and we were pleased to see a set of triplets who were born at 33 weeks via CS and doing really well at 1.6, 1.5 and 1.4 KG from the first to the third baby.we were at Ministry of Mercy (MoM) Hospital along Okene-Abuja Expressway, Lokoja and we were simply amazed at how well equipped the place is with doctors with years, no decades of experience work as volunteers to serve humanity.
