World Prematurity Day 2016 PREEMIES ARE RUBIES

The 2016 World Prematurity Day met TBHI in Lokoja, the ancient and capital city of Kogi State. The Commemoration began with an awareness walk which had over 100 participants. At the end of the walk was a lecture given by Dr. Medupin, a Consultant Paediatrician with the Federal Medical Center, Lokoja.

The theme of TBHI’s lecture was Preemies Are Rubies and it was picked to highlight the fact that although survival for the premature infant can be very tough for the Preemie and all involved in their care, at the end of the day they are as beautiful and tough as the ruby. Commemoration focused on the need and society to do all they can to give requisite support to parents of preemies even as we put all hands on deck to fight prematurity.

Participants included state government representatives, NGOs, the media and the general public.
